Jibri Lee started coming to The Point when he was 12 years old.  Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jibri and his mom and brother moved to Atglen after his mother divorced his father.

He and his brother got bored one day, saw The Point and decided that the loser of a “Rock, Paper, Scissors” game had to be the one to scope out what was going on inside The Point.  Jibri lost, saw the basketball court and skate park and both he and his brother LeMaire were hooked.

Jibri had adjustment and anger issues when he first came to The Point.  Hardened by fighting his way through Detroit, it took awhile for him to calm down.  In fact, the first week he attended The Point he got in a fight and was suspended for two weeks.  After those two weeks were up, he was right back to The Point because he “simply liked being here.”

In Detroit, Jibri went to church once a year, so he had just enough understanding of sermons to know that they were boring.  When it came time for Dwayne to preach at The Point, both he and his brother would try to sneak out.  Before long Jibri realized that Dwayne’s messages were inspiring and valuable and started looking forward to the sermon time.

Jibri started studying different religions, mainly Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and eventually mythology and he didn’t consider himself affiliated with any religion.

Dwayne was talking about the stories of Daniel and Jibri could relate to Daniel’s experiences … how Daniel was often an outsider, how Daniel stood up for his beliefs and how Daniel never stopped searching for God.  Although Jibri is still searching, he is searching in the direction of Christianity and wants to know God like Daniel did.

Now 20 years old, Jibri has been volunteering as Cafeteria Manager, drawing from his two years of culinary training, giving back to the place that has given him so much.
