The Point Youth Take Cooking Classes

In the early 1960's, only four percent of American youth were overweight.  As per the latest U.S. Health and Human Services statistics published in 2002, 16% of today's youth are overweight.  

Soda.  McDonalds.  A lack of whole grains and vegetables.  Too much time in front of the TV.  All of these are influences on the weight of our children.  

Our youth need to be taught to eat properly, which is why The Point had hosted Triskeles Foundation's cooking classes these past couple week.  Our youth were taught how to prepare healthy yet tasteful meals; they were taught the importance of buying local foods and many of our youth -- through another Triskeles program -- are being taught how to grow their own food.
